A Pleasantville man who just got out of prison this summer is now back behind bars in an alleged burglary.
Bernard Snead, 52, is accused of taking about $500 worth of liquor from Atlantic City’s Bungalow Beach Bar in the 2600 block of the Boardwalk, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Officers Tyler Daily and Sean Pettit were called to the business when the alarm went off at about 3:50 a.m. Monday, and they found a broken window, according to the report. Officers in the city’s Surveillance Center were able to find the suspect entering and exiting the business, and identified him.
As Daily and Pettit headed back to complete paperwork in the case at about 4:40 a.m., they saw Snead.
He was carrying a book bag containing several bags of frozen shrimp, seven frozen steaks and two screwdrivers, according to the report.
The food is believed to have been stolen, but police do not yet know where it was taken from, Fair said.
Snead is charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, hindering apprehension, and possession of burglary tools. He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Snead previously has served time for burglarizing vending machines.
He was arrested in December 2004 for allegedly breaking into 17 machines at various casinos and taking about $1,300 in cash and causing $8,500 in damages. He did prison time for that.
Snead most recently served 20 months for a similar criminal mischief charge along with charges of being in a casino even though he was on the exclusion list.
He was released July 1, according to Department of Corrections records.
