A Cumberland County man was indicted on charges of murder and attempted murder in a shooting that missed its intended target.
Leon Green, 27, is accused of
shooting Yusef Abdullah at the Fox Manor Hotel on Pacific Avenue on June 1.
But an investigation found Green intended to shoot James Waugh, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
Waugh was not injured in the shooting. Abdullah was 22 when he was shot. He died more than a month later on July 8, after turning 23, his mother said.
His death was not announced publicly until Green’s indictment this week.
Waugh was shot in the back Aug. 26 in Pleasantville. That shooting is still under investigation.

Green, who has been listed as living in Vineland and Millville, is charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and several weapons offenses.
The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Atlantic City Police Department.
