Atlantic City shooting victim drives himself to hospital

A man drove himself to the hospital after being shot Saturday in Atlantic City police said. An alert from the city's ShotSpotter audio gunshot-detection system brought officers to the area of Michigan and Grant avenues at 6:34 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said. When officers got there, they tried to stop a vehicle leaving the scene. The vehicle was driven by the 23-year-old city who was wounded in the shooting, according to the report. He drove himself to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. No other information was released, including the victim's name. His injury is not considered life-threatening. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the city's Violent Crimes Unit at 609-347-5788. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.  All texts are anonymous.
