A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty Wednesday to three armed robberies in Cumberland, Ocean and Salem counties last year.
Terrance Robinson, 31, of Havertown, Pa., pleaded guilty to two counts of bank robbery, on count of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence in the crime spree that lasted two weeks in November, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.
Robinson and Jeffery Edmonds, 45, of Ridley Park, Pa., picked up a handgun and removed the license plates from Edmonds’ car Nov. 1, before driving to an Upper Pittsgrove Township convenience store, where Robinson stole money at gunpoint while Edmonds waiting in the getaway car, according to the information released in court.
Edmonds already pleaded guilty in the crimes.
On Nov. 6, the two robbed the OceanFirst Bank in Upper Deerfield Township. Eight days later, they robbed the Fulton Savings Bank in Alloway Township.
As with the convenience store robbery, they removed the plates from the car, and Edmonds acted as the getaway driver.
Each of the three robbery counts carry a maximum of 20 years in prison. The possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence could add five years to life.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 9.
Edmonds is set to be sentenced Nov. 16.
Carpenito credited special agents of the FBI’s South Jersey Resident Agency, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Michael Harpster in Philadelphia, special agents of the FBI Newark Field Office, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Gregory W. Ehrie, and officers of the N.J. State Police, under the direction of Superintendent Col. Patrick J. Callahan, with the investigation leading to the plea.
