Possible meteor captured on doorbell camera

  • News

An Egg Harbor Township resident found out his doorbell camera isn’t just good for keeping an eye on his home. It can capture some pretty cool footage of a possible meteor streaking through the sky.
Sean Finnegan was in upstate Pennsylvania on Tuesday night when he says he saw some chatter about a fireball spotted in the sky close to home.
He brought up his NestCam footage on his phone and saw he had a clear video.
About 30 seconds in, the night sky lights up in the upper left of the video, and then the streaks comes in to view.

It was just before 11 p.m. facing south-southwest, he said.
The American Meteor Society said it got reports of the fireball from several states, including New Jersey. About a dozen were from New Jersey.
But there could be more. The high activity seemed to have crashed the site late Wednesday morning.
Michael Norris’ NestCam captured it as well, in color.
