Atlantic City will be hosting neighborhood barbecues in each ward — as long as Mother Nature allows it.
The first two barbecues — which had been set for Tuesday and Wednesday — have been postponed due to the weather.
The Police Department's Neighborhood Coordination Unit and its sponsors are hosting the events, which will provide free food, entertainment and — in some cases — nighttime movies.
Each will also include the two NCU officers assigned to that ward.
There had been some question as to whether the barbecues would happen.
Shortly after making the announcement last Wednesday, the department tweeted that “we have been notified that we need to postpone or possibly cancel” the events.
“Hopefully just a quick formality and then we’ll announce again,” Sgt. Kevin Fair told BreakingAC at the time.
"Our goal is to bring the community together one event at a time," according to a release from police.
The first barbecue is now set for Thursday in the Fourth Ward.
