Two Atlantic County men accused of setting their friend on fire have been offered plea deals of five years each, according to information given in court Thursday.
David Sult, 24, and Brandon Perez, 23, are accused of pouring lighter fluid on the victim and setting him on fire as he slept on Sult's couch in Mays Landing.
Hamilton Township police were called to the home on the 2900 block of Cologne Avenue March 15. By time they got there, 27-year-old Raymond Mullen had already driven himself to the hospital.
The "extensive" evidence in the case includes video surveillance.
New evidence has also been received by the state, and will be forwarded to the defense attorneys after he goes through it, Assistant Prosecutor Chris D'Esposito told Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Waldman.
The additional evidence includes interviews with the victim in the hospital along with photos and "essentially recorded conversations," D'Esposito said.
Perez, who lives in Hammonton, and Sult, 24 are charged with aggravated assault, aggravated arson and conspiracy.
The current offer is five years with a mandatory 85 percent under the No Early Release Act.
