  • News

A Bergen County woman was struck and killed as she crossed Atlantic Avenue early Saturday morning against the light, Atlantic City police said.
Police were called to Ohio and Atlantic avenues just after 4 a.m. for the report of a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
The 66-year-old Pleasantville man was heading west on Atlantic City and had the green light when he struck the woman as she walked into his path, Fair said. He immediately stopped.
The woman was found severely injured and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, where she died.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, Fair said.
No names have been released.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Accident Investigations Section at 609-347-5744. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (845411) beginning the text with ACPD.
