Atlantic City announces return of Latino Festival

  • News

The Latino Festival is returning to Atlantic City after a dozen years.

“My administration is happy to see the return of the Atlantic City Latino Festival,” Mayor Frank Gilliam said. “I am always in favor of celebrating the beauty and diversity of the residential base in Atlantic City.”

The official announcement was made Tuesday, with music, costumes and members of the Hispanic community.

The event set for Sept. 22 at Bader Field comes from CRDA Executive Director Matt Doherty, who was impressed by the turnout at the first Spanish-speaking Town Hall the city hosted.

“It was great seeing all the Hispanic folks that came out and see how much they care about the community,” he said.

“It’s going to be epic,” said Rosa Farias, deputy executive director of the Atlantic City Alliance Office.

It also helps herald the rebirth of the former Hispanic Alliance as the Hispanic Association of Atlantic County, leader Bert Lopez pointed out.

“It’s nice we can have events like this where the CRDA is taking another positive role in moving things forward,” Doherty said. “That’s what we should be doing.”
