A teenager who allegedly threw a gun while and escaped police has been arrested.Officers were called to the 1300 block of Drexel Avenue at 1:13 p.m. Tuesday for a ShotSpotter alert, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.There was evidence of gunfire and police were able to get a description of possible suspects, according to the report.Lt. Daniel Corcoran and Sgt. James Herbert found a teen matching the description of a suspect in the 1100 block of Sewell Avenue, Fair said.But when the officers got of their vehicle, the 17-year-old fled, throwing a loaded handgun onto the street, according to the report.The teen successfully escaped capture, but was identified Wednesday and Herbert arrested him, Fair said.The 17-year-old city boy is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.
He was released to a parent with a future court date.
