An Ocean City man pleaded guilty Friday to fatally strangling his girlfriend during a domestic fight in 2017.
Paul Kline, 50, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter a month before he was set to go to trial for murder.
Denise Webber, 54, was found dead inside an apartment at the Wesley Inn at about 8:40 a.m. July 22, 2017.
Kline decided to take the plea so he could eventually have a life outside prison after serving his sentence, attorney John Tumelty told BreakingAC.
He was “looking at life if convicted of murder and we were facing some challenging facts defending the murder charge,” Tumelty said.
Kline faces 20 years in prison when he is sentenced under the plea agreement.
