An Atlantic City man is in jail after he allegedly slashed a man with a machete during an argument.
Police were called to the 100 block of Tennessee Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. Monday for a fight, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
They found a 47-year-old city resident with deep lacerations to both hands, according to the report.
The victim, whose name was not released, was involved in a verbal argument with Kambui Hannibal that escalated into a physical fight, Fair said.
Hannibal then got a machete with a 16-inch blade that he swung at the victim, Fair said.
The victim was cut when he tried to get the machete, according to the report.
Hannibal, 55, was arrested and the machete seized.
The victim was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus for treatment.
Hannibal is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
