An Atlantic City man admitted Wednesday to holding a man down while another man fatally shot him in 2015.
Dwayne Gant-Smith, 52, was found shot in the head on the front lawn of a Northfield residence.
Also known as Kevin Charm, the victim was targeted because he witnesses an earlier shooting, according to one of the men charged in his killing.
Kyleet Blakely, 40, said he held Charm down while Cornell Bradford shot him on Jan. 9, 2015, in Northfield.
Bradford was worried about an investigation into the Aug. 28, 2014, shooting of Darrell Moore in Atlantic City, according to Blakely's plea.
Bradford and Mario Blocker were involved in that shooting, according to a 20-count indictment handed up in 2016.
Blakely was charged with six counts, most involving witness tampering.
He pleaded guilty to one count of witness tampering, which would carry a 15-year flat prison sentence, meaning it would not require a minimum amount of time before parole eligibility.
He also pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary for breaking into a man's room at Caesar's Atlantic City on April 13, 2016. That would carry a three-year term to be served concurrently.
As part of his plea, Blakely also would have to testify against his co-defendants if they go to trial.
