Ocean County man pleads guilty in two drug deaths

A Berkeley Township man has pleaded guilty in the drug-related deaths of two township men within 24 hours.
Keith Tandberg, 45, was pronounced dead at his home after his roommate found him unresponsive Feb. 24, 2018.
Less than 24 hours later, police were called to James Tice Jr.’s residence after his father found him unresponsive. The 29-year-old was pronounced dead at his home.
Cody Lessing, 26, admitted to selling heroin to the men, who had both heroin and fentanyl found in their bodies.
“As I have previously vowed, we are committed to the relentless pursuit and prosecution of all individuals selling illegal narcotics in Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said. “The continuing presence of fentanyl and the alarming rise in opioid-related deaths require this approach. We are satisfied that Lessing has been brought to justice. Our sympathy lies with two families dealing with the tragic loss of a family member.”
Lessing is scheduled to be sentence April 24.
