A Bridgeton man is charged with vehicular homicide in the death of his passenger in a 2018 crash.
Irving Muse was arrested by Hamilton Township police Friday in the Dec. 20 death of 25-year-old Daryl Bowen, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner announced Tuesday.
An investigation found Muse, 24, was drunk at the time of the crash.
Muse was heading west on Millville Avenue — also known as Bears Head Road — when he drove into the shoulder and hit a tree around milepost 25.5, police said at the time of the crash.
One of the first people on the scene told BreakingAC at the time that the driver was unconscious when he got there.
"I got him awake and he crawled out saying he wasn't driving, and there was a third person," Alan Wright said at the time.
But, he added, there was no one else but Muse and the front seat passenger, who Muse had said was his brother.
Neither man was wearing a seat belt, according to the original report.
Muse is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing set for Wednesday.
