Pleasantville man arrested in fatal shooting of teen girl

  • News

A Pleasantville man is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a teenage girl found inside an Atlantic City residence.
Nahquil Lovest, 18, shot 15-year-old Naimah Bell in the head inside a house in the 100 block of South Massachusetts Avenue, according to the charges.
There were six people in the room when Bell was shot, according to the affidavit. Three identified as Lovest as pointing the gun at Bell when it was fired.
Lovest acknowledge he was holding the gun when it was fired, the affidavit states.
Police were called to the home at 4:17 a.m., and found Bell on a bed dead, according to the affidavit.
Lovest was arrested without incident by members of the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crime Unit and Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of the Atlantic County SWAT team, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said.
“I want to applaud the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and all of our law enforcement partners for the thorough investigation and swift apprehension of the suspect in this matter," Tyner said. "Sadly, another young life in our community has been cut short, and others have been traumatized. Our community is better than this. We must protect our children.”

The arrest was a cooperative effort between the Atlantic City and Pleasantville police, along with the Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, Tyner said.
The group was seen taking four people out of a residence on Fourth Street in Pleasantville overnight.
Lovest is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility. His detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
There have been nine homicides in Atlantic City with arrests in six.
