Two arrests in the shooting of a man and woman outside an Atlantic City building led police to a handgun and drugs.
Quadir Stanley, 30, and Claria Barrigher, 27, are charged in the May 24, shooting that wounded a man and woman outside the Lighthouse Plaza at 300 Atlantic Ave.
The investigation led to a search of an apartment inside the apartment building, where police found a loaded handgun, 899 bags of heroin, almost 2½ ounces of cocaine, 5½ grams of ecstasy and 2½ grams of marijuana, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Police were called to the 300 block of Atlantic Avenue at about 9:30 that night for a report of men shooting paintball guns.
But when they arrived, officers were told that individuals were possibly shot with a firearm, according to the report.
Around that time, a man and woman — both 30 years old from Atlantic City — walked into the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus with gunshot wounds.
Stanley was arrested June 3 in Camden, and Barrigher on June 5 in Pleasantville, Fair said.
The arrests were not announced until Friday — more than a week later.
Both are each charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy, four counts each of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute CDS.
Stanley is additionally charged with aggravated assault, indicating he is believed to be the shooter.
A witness told BreakingAC that a verbal argument between two women appeared to spark the gunfight.
At one point, others joined in. A man was seen hitting a woman right before the gunfire erupted, the witness said.
“I saw one guy shot in the leg,” said the witness, who asked not to be identified. “He was hobbling across the street as they were still shooting at him.”
