A 16-year-old boy was arrested with a loaded gun after he allegedly tried to rob a man, police said.
Police were called to the 1500 block of Reading Avenue just before 11 p.m. Monday for the report of an attempted robbery, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
A 47-year-old man from Lindenwold said he was walking when two juveniles on bikes, and one pulled a handgun from his sweatshirt pocket, according to the report. The victim was able to get away before anything was taken.
Officer Wahab Malik then found a juvenile matching the suspect's description in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Arctic Avenue and stopped him, Fair said.
The 16-year-old from Atlantic City was found with a loaded handgun in his sweatshirt pocket and arrested.
He is being held in the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
His name is not being released due to his age.
