A Pleasantville man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a four-car crash that closed Route 30 in Atlantic City for two hours Monday night.
Police were called to the area near Clayton's Storage at 8:12 p.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Juan Ortiz-Diaz, 31, was also charged with assault by auto and numerous motor vehicle summonses.
Patrol officers arrived to find three cars had sustained heavy damage, with a vehicle that had been heading west flipping over and ending up in the eastbound lane, Fair said. Ortiz-Diaz's vehicle had been heading east, but wound up in the westbound lane.
A fourth vehicle sustained minor damage.
Two of the drivers were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, Fair said.
Ortiz-Diaz was released on a summons.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Officer Eric Knuttel.
