A Somers Point man was charged with drunken driving after he sideswiped a police car and left the scene, Longport police said.
Officer Shaune Slattery had just gotten back into her marked patrol car just before 9 p.m. Friday after an unrelated stop on Longport Boulevard when a pickup truck sideswiped the car and kept going, according to the report.
Sgt. Jamie Silva witnessed the crash and found the driver a short time later, police said.
Michael Muller, 28, was arrested by Egg Harbor Township police and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Slattery was taken to Shore Medical Center by members of the Longport Fire Department.
She was treated for minor injuries and released.
Longport police used the incident as a chance to remind people the dangers of impaired driving, and reminded them to use caution and slow down when approaching stopped emergency vehicles with flashing lights.
