Atlantic City man admits killing witness to shooting

  • News

An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty to killing one man to keep him quiet about the shooting of a Bridgeton man.
Cornell Bradford was set to go on trial next month in the killing of Dwayne Gant-Smith, who was also known as Kevin Charm.
Charm, 52, was found fatally shot on Jan. 9, 2015, on the lawn of a Northfield residence.
In January, Kyleet Blakely admitted he held Charm down while Bradford shot him in an attempt to keep him from testifying in an earlier shooting.
Bradford was worried about an investigation into the Aug. 28, 2014, shooting of Darrell Moore in Atlantic City, according to Blakely’s plea.

Bradford and Mario Blocker were involved in that shooting, according to a 20-count indictment handed up in 2016.
Earlier the day of Charm's killing, Bradford threatened Moore not to talk.
Blakely was set to testify against Bradford at his murder trial next month.
Instead, Bradford pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, attempted murder and two counts of witness tampering.
He faces 25 years in prison when he is sentenced April 25.
Blakely faces 15 years for his part.
