A 16-year-old boy from Atlantic City was arrested after he allegedly stole a man's bike at gunpoint early Wednesday morning.
Offices were called to the 1300 block of Pacific Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. for an armed robbery, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
A 37-year-old man told police the boy took his bike at gunpoint, then fled toward Atlantic Avenue, according to the report.
When they heard the description of the boy, officers in the Surveillance Center remembered seeing someone matching that description riding a bike on Atlantic Avenue around that time, Fair said.
A review of surveillance footage traced the boy to a store in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue, the report said.
Officers Jesse Oliver-Logan and Jonathan Revolus arrested the suspect as he got on the stolen bike after leaving the store, Fair said.
The unnamed minor was found with a loaded handgun and 18 bags of heroin.
He is charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon during the commission of a drug offense and a curfew violation.
He was taken to the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center in Egg Harbor City.
