South Jersey news will soon have a new home.
BreakingAC is joining forces with former NBC40 news anchor Michelle Dawn Mooney and forecaster Nor'Easter Nick Pittman to bring residents the news, weather and lifestyle stories that affect them.
South Jersey News TV will put a new face on the old newscast.
You don't need to check local listings or wait for broadcasts at 5, 6 and 11. With its all-digital platform, SJNtv will be there with the latest news and weather whenever you log on.
"We are really breaking the mold for how this area gets their news on a daily basis," said Mooney, SJNtv's Chief Operating Officer. "The trend is moving away from traditional TV broadcasts in favor of glancing at the headlines of the day, picking which ones you want to learn more about, and then choosing to read or watch the full story or video.
“Additionally, our commitment lies with not only sharing the bad news but also the good things happening in our community and the people behind the scenes making them happen ... information you need to know and stories you want to hear.”
Mooney will not only bring her journalistic chops to this venture with news break updates expected to launch in the new year, but she'll also be fronting a series of lifestyle and motivational segments designed to educate and inspire.
Then there's the trusted — and never hyped — forecasts of Nor'Easter Nick.
“For the past decade, I’ve been committed to providing the most detailed, accurate and hyper-local forecast possible,” Pittman said. “I pride myself on truth, not flashy headlines. It’s extremely important that people can feel comfortable getting their weather information from a trusted source.”
And, of course, the news of BreakingAC will continue with its promise of accuracy.
"People deserve to know what's going on around them, and to feel like they have a place to go to separate the reality from the rumor," said Lynda Cohen, founder of BreakingAC and SJN's news director. "Confirm then report has been a mantra I live by."
SJNtv has big plans and hopes to grow with its audience.
A new journey in local news starts Monday. Here's hoping you join us.
