A former Atlantic County Institute of Technology student is jailed for allegedly making a threat that the school “will be shot up.” Chase Warriner, 18, of Galloway Township, graduated from ACIT last year. Last week, he posted on Instagram saying, “ACIT will be shot up on Monday,” Atlantic County Sheriff Eric Scheffler said. The threat was ultimately shared on Snapchat, which was reported to authorities by a student at the school, according to the report. Additional personnel were stationed at the school, including sheriff’s officers and Hamilton Township police. An investigation aided by Galloway Township police led to Warriner, Scheffler said. He was charged with terroristic threats, false public alarm and child endangerment. He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a bail hearing.
Note: The Atlantic County Justice Facility no longer provides mugshots to the media, citing the Atlantic County prosecutor’s order. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office says it’s part of the Attorney General’s Guidelines. There is no such guideline, according to the Attorney General’s Office, but they have told these offices for years that they should not release any photos that appear to be mugshots.
