A Vineland man is in critical condition after being shot during a home invasion that left the family dog dead.
Police have no description of the suspect, who came into the home on the 1000 block of Sunset Avenue at about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
A 22-year-old resident was shot once in the face. A woman who was also home at the time was not hurt.
Their names were not released. The dog was shot and killed.
Vineland Emergency Medical Services treated the man at the scene, and then took him to Cooper University Health Care,. where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The incident was just about a block from the Thomas Wallace Jr. Middle School.
Detectives are looking to speak with anyone in the area of Sunset Avenue, North Mill Road and Pine Grove Avenue who may have video surveillance from the time in question.
