  • News

An Atlantic City man sentenced to drug court less than a month ago was arrested on heroin charges Friday.
Alexander Botchway, 29, ran from police after being pulled over at about 11:15 a.m., while driving in the area of Georgia and Pacific avenues, Sgt Kevin Fair said.
While speaking with speaking with Officer Daniel Arra, he ran, according to the report.
Arra grabbed Botchway, who pushed the officer and the two fell to the ground, where he continued to fight as the officer tried to handcuff him, Fair said.
With the assistant of other officers, Botchway was placed in custody, according to the report.
He was found with 150 bags of heroin and 11.5 grams of unpackaged heroin, and two grams of MDMA, also known as Ecstasy or Molly.
Botchway has a history of drug and gun charges. He was arrested in 2017, about six months after being released from prison.
On Sept. 19, he was accepted into drug court, records show.
Botchway is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute within a school zone, failure to turn over CDS, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. He was also issued traffic summonses.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
