Authorities have released a composite sketch of a possible witness in the disappearance of a Bridgeton girl.
Dulce Maria Alavez, 5, went missing nearly a month ago, after she and her 3-year-old brother went to play in Bridgeton City Park while her mother sat in the car just before 5 p.m. Sept. 16.
An Amber alert was issued more than 24 hours later, after a child witness gave authorities an initial description of a man seen taking the girl to a van.
Now, an adult witness has apparently come forward, and a composite was released.
"This sketch is not from the child witness of tender years who gave authorities an initial description," Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
"I am not calling this person a suspect or a person of interest," she stressed. "He is simply a possible witness we want to speak with at this time."
Authorities are asking that the man pictured or anyone who may recognize him to come forward.
Bridgeton police, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, the New Jersey State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are actively investigating.
Anyone who can identify this individual or who has information about the case is asked to contact Bridgeton Police Department at 856-451-0033.
The public is reminded that authorities will not question any witness about their immigration status. Information may be supplied anonymously by texting TIP411 (847411) beginning the text with Bridgeton.
