Atlantic City firefighters free trapped construction worker after collapse

  • News

Atlantic City firefighters rescued a construction worker who was trapped a 10-by-12-foot brick wall.
Using hydraulic rescue tools and emergency shoring jacks, firefighters from Rescue 1, Ladder 2 and Engine 2 were able to free the worker from the building on the 100 block of North Iowa Avenue, Fire Chief Scott Evans said.
The worker was digging a trench next to the building for a water line to supply sprinklers when the accident happened Friday morning, Evans said.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to the Trauma Center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
