An Egg Harbor Township staff member has tested positive for the coronavirus, the superintendent confirmed Friday.
The unnamed individual contracted COVID-19 after schools were closed, Superintendent Kimberly Gruccio said in a letter sent to the school district community Friday.Anyone who had close contact with the staff member will be notified, she said.
"The Atlantic County Department of Health will be following all related protocols issued by the state Department of Health for case investigation and contact tracing," Gruccio wrote.
Students and families are asked to monitor themselves for symptoms "out of an abundance of caution," she said.
No personal information could be released about the staffer.
"We request that you respect the health privacy for the individual and their family at this time," Gruccio said. "We will continue to monitor this situation and provide you updates as needed."
