Three Atlantic City schools employees have tested positive for the coronavirus.Superintendent Barry Caldwell sent out a letter to the "Atlantic City School Family" on Tuesday saying that these are the first confirmed COVID-19 cases in the district they are aware of.The staff members contracted the virus after schools were closed, Caldwell said.The letter did not indicate where in the district the staff members work."The Atlantic County Department of Health will be following all necessary protocols issued by the state Department of Health for case investigation and contact tracing," Caldwell said. "As part of this assessment, notification to all other individuals who have been identified as close contacts of the staff members will follow."No information about the employees could be released due to privacy laws, Caldwell wrote."Out of caution, we ask that all students, staff and families monitor themselves for symptoms, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath," he continued. "If you should develop one or more of these symptoms, please call your healthcare provider for guidance."Atlantic City is the second school district in Atlantic County to put out notice that at least one staff member was confirmed to have COVID-19.Egg Harbor Township schools on Friday notified its staff and students that a staff member there tested positive. In that case, they too say the unnamed person contracted the virus after schools closed.
