EHT man charged after claiming COVID-19, spitting at police

An Egg Harbor Township man already jailed on drug and weapons charges is now accused of terroristic threats related to saying he had COVID-19.William Wolverton, 50, was being booked on the charges, when he was being put in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, according to the report.He then allegedly said he was infected with COVID-19, and was going to infect everyone in the station.Wolverton refused to be fingerprinted, spit on the floor and toward an officer, and refused to comply with booking procedures, police said.He was charged with terroristic threats Friday, while in the jail.Wolverton has a criminal history dating to a 1991 burglary, court records show. His prior pleas include cases involving terroristic threats and assault.He remains jailed.
