  • Covid 19

Five more Atlantic County public deaths have been contributed to complications from the coronavirus. All had pre-existing health conditions that put them at greater risk, health officials said. The deaths were a 76-year-old woman and 78-year-old man from Atlantic City, a 60-year-old man and 88-year-old woman from Egg Harbor Township, and a 72-year-old man from Hamilton Township. Eighteen residents have died from the virus.Five more residents have been listed as cleared, bringing the total to 71.There were also 20 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 throughout the county, for a total of 370.Five are in Galloway Township, three in Egg Harbor Township, and two each are from Atlantic City and Hammonton. Absecon, Brigantine, Buena, Linwood, Margate, Northfield and Ventnor each have one resident who has been newly confirmed positive.

One new case also was attributed to Egg Harbor City, but the local Health Department said there remains just one case in the city. The discrepancy is due to reports by ZIP code. The county could not confirm the municipality where that patient actually lives.

Atlantic County is accepting appointments for two additional drive-thru test dates next Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing.

Residents must be symptomatic for respiratory illness, provide a doctor’s script, proof of residency and confirmation of appointment.
