Three elderly Hammonton women with pre-existing health conditions are the latest Atlantic County deaths contributed to COVID-19.The women were 87, 90 and 92. It was not immediately clear if they had been in long-term care facilities.The number of deaths in the county is now at 22, with 81 patients listed as recovered.Hammonton also had 11 residents added to the list of those who have tested positive, health officials said. That brings their total to 35 cases.They were among 52 newly confirmed cases in the county, bringing the total to 479.The increase in confirmed cases is attributed to increased testing in the area, including the opening of a drive-up site last week. The site behind the Hamilton Mall was on its third day of testing Tuesday.The site originally had 600 test kits, and is planning to get another 200, officials said.The newly confirmed cases included 24 males from 17 to 87. There were also 28 women ages 26 to 88.
Those cases include eight Egg Harbor Township residents, six from Galloway, and five each from Atlantic City, Hamilton Township and Pleasantville.Linwood and Somers Point each had three newly confirmed positives, with Brigantine, Buena, Estell Manor, Folsom and Northfield reporting one. Port Republic also had its first confirmed case, making Corbin City the only municipality in the county without a reported case.Atlantic County is accepting appointments at its drive-thru site for the next testing day, Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Residents must be symptomatic for respiratory illness, provide a doctor’s script, proof of residency and confirmation of appointment.
