Atlantic County cases up more than 10 percent

Atlantic County announced 62 newly confirmed Sunday, bringing the total to 668.The increase by more than 10 percent of those previously reported is likely due to the additional testing now being done in the county.These COVID-19 cases include 6-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy, according to the numbers provided by the Department of Public Health.The oldest woman is 93, and the oldest man is 86.

There are also 19 more cases listed as recovered for a total of 127. This number is believed to be low due to those who had no symptoms or were told to self-quarantine were not tested.

The new positives included 25 Hammonton residents, and increase of more than 50 percent. The total there is now 73 cases, the third most in the county.Seven Absecon residents are among the newly confirmed cases, which include four residents from Linwood, and Egg Harbor and Galloway townships.Three cases were confirmed in Buena, Hamilton Township and Pleasantville, with two each in Atlantic City and Northfield.

Brigantine, Egg Harbor City, Margate, Somers Point and Ventnor each had one new case.

Atlantic County will continue testing this week from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Hamilton Township site.Atlantic City will start testing qualifying residents next week at two sites, including a walk-up site in the Showboat parking lot.

For all sights, residents must be symptomatic for respiratory illness, provide a doctor’s script, proof of residency and confirmation of appointment.
