Atlantic County had its highest one-day total on confirmed COVID-19 cases Monday.An 87-year-old Linwood man with pre-existing conditions died of complications from the virus, raising the county total to 30 deaths.There were 108 newly confirmed positives, including a 7-month-old boy, bringing the county total to 776.The spike is attributed to a partnership with Cooper Hospital to provide testing at 16 long-term care facilities in South Jersey, officials said.
The oldest man among the new positives is 96. The 63 women range in age from 22 to 98.Hammonton again topped the list of new cases with 66, nearly doubling the town's total to 139, surpassing Egg Harbor Township as the most in the county.Absecon, Atlantic City, Egg Harbor Township and Pleasantville each had five new confirmations.Galloway Township and Linwood have four each, and Hamilton Township had three.Buena Vista Township, Northfield and Weymouth had two each, with one newly confirmed case each in Brigantine, Buena Borough, Margate, Mullica and Somers Point.
Atlantic County will continue testing this week from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Hamilton Township site.Atlantic City will start testing qualifying residents next week at two sites, including a walk-up site in the Showboat parking lot.
For all sights, residents must be symptomatic for respiratory illness, provide a doctor’s script, proof of residency and confirmation of appointment.
