Atlantic City officers, firefighters rescue ducklings

  • Community

Atlantic City police and firefighters helped save some baby ducks this week.

Officer Cindy Rongione, the department's very own "pet detective," went deep in a sewage drain to save the five ducklings. The little ducks were stuck in a drain off Brigantine Boulevard. It's not the first time she put herself in a tight place to help an animal. In September, Rongione squeezed under an NJ Transit bus to save a dog.

The ducklings were taken to the Funny Farm Rescue to be evaluated and taken in.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner honored the group Thursday, as part of his office's "Random Acts of Copness."

“In these challenging times, Officer Rongione and her colleagues at ACPD and ACFD, prove once again that they are there to protect and serve all of those who cannot help themselves, no matter what form of life," Tyner said. "We are grateful for their service.”
