A Collings Lakes man who was allegedly drunk when he fled an ATV crash that killed his friend last year is now in jail.
Michael Brown, 35, was arrested Wednesday for vehicular homicide in the Sept. 20 crash in Buena Vista Township.
Brown's license was suspended when he drove the Honda ATV on West Colton Lane at about 9:30 that night, according to the charges.
He went off the road near the intersection of West Cushman Avenue, and struck a tree. Both he and passenger, Christopher Vasinda, were thrown from the vehicle.
Vasinda, 34, of Williamstown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brown fled to a nearby residence, where he was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
After a 10-month investigation, Brown was charged with vehicular homicide on July 26.
He was arrested in Berlin Borough, Camden County, on Wednesday by members of the State Police Fugitive Unit, along with members of the State Police K-9 Unit, the U.S. Marshals Service N.Y./N.J. Regional Task Force and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Brown is also charged with receiving stolen property, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in death and causing death while driving suspended. He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
