Atlantic City police mourn officer found dead in car

  • News

Atlantic City police are in mourning after the unexpected death of a young officer who the chief described as a "bright, rising star."
Officer Richard Link, 29, of Brigantine, was found dead Saturday in his car in Galloway Township.
The cause of death was not released. But it is not suspicious and drugs were not involved.
Link joined the Atlantic City Police Department as a Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II in December 2016.
He became a full-time officer in April 2019.
Link was assigned to the Operations Division, but was on a temporary assignment with the Riot Investigation Team, which recently made several arrests in the May riots.
“Officer Richard Link was a young, bright, rising star in our department”, Chief Henry White said. “He was a hard worker and dedicated to the residents and visitors of Atlantic City.
"He most recently received tremendous praise for his work ethic and dedication from his supervisors and peers as he was an integral part of our team that investigated the looting and rioting that occurred in May," White continued. "On behalf of the men and women of the ACPD, my thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Officer Link at this difficult time.”
