Woman allegedly threatened to kill Atlantic City mayor

  • News

An Atlantic City woman allegedly threatened to kill the mayor after confronting him as he was driving in the City Hall parking lot Friday afternoon.

Officers Ivaylo Penchev and Jonathan Revolus responded from their posts inside City Hall at about 4:25 p.m., and saw Nicole Staton yelling at Mayor Marty Small while a small group watched, Lt. Kevin Fair said.

Small told officers that he was driving in the parking lot when the woman he didn't know jumped in front of his vehicle, according to the report.

When Small stopped, she started banging on his window yelling at him.

The mayor got out and tried to speak to her, but she continued to yell and threaten to kill him and his family, according to the report.

Staton, 47, was arrested without incident.

She was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment.

She is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Staton was sentence to a year probation in March 2019 for an attack on a police officer, court records show.
