Pleasantville woman gets 20 years in fatal A.C. stabbing

  • News

A Pleasantville woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison for a brutal knife attack that left a woman dead and a man critically injured.

Rollie Ellis said she was not in her right mind when she attacked her friends inside their apartment across from the Atlantic City police station.

Jennifer Rodriguez collapsed inside the public safety building after escaping the April 11, 2018 attack out a window and running for help.

Raphy Rodriguez spoke of the loss he suffered and how it tore apart his family.

His eldest son will not speak to him, saying he should have protected his mother.

The two youngest of the couple's five children ask him when he and their mother will be home.

Raphy Rodriguez was brought in from Camden County Jail, where he is currently housed on charges unrelated to the case.

"Raphy, there's not any words that could bring your wife back," Ellis told her victim. "I hope one day you find it in your heart to forgive me for what I did."

The prosecutor pointed out that Ellis left the apartment after arguing with the couple, armed herself with two knives and then returned to the apartment, where she attacked them.

Ellis must serve at least 85 percent of her sentence, or 17 years.
