An Egg Harbor Township man died days after being struck by a car late Monday night.
Kamal Chand, 41, was remembered as a loving father of four who was heading to work when he was struck just after 11 p.m. Monday on the Black Horse Pike in the township.
A westbound van driven by 81-year-old Andrew Conte struck Chand in the outside lane near the Conoco Gas Station, according to police.
Chand worked at another gas station, Garden State Fuel, nearby.
He had been on life support but was taken off Wednesday night, a family member said.
After becoming a citizen, Chand was proud to get a drivers license, and had asked what the organ donor question meant, a friend explained.
When he found out, he quickly replied yes. In honoring his wishes, his organs helped three strangers, according to family.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family. His wife, Rosina, and their four children ages 3 to 19.
The area of the Black Horse Pike was shut down for about four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The crash is being investigated by Officers Patrick Daly and James Ludwig.
