Ventnor man charged with firing gun during A.C. fight

Witnesses helped lead officers to a Ventnor man accused of firing gunshots during a fight involved almost two dozen people.Atlantic City police were called to the 2400 block of Fairmount Avenue at 3:14 Sunday morning for a report of a fight involving more than 20 people, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.Police were told a man fired a gun in the air during the melee.Jesus Silva, 24, was arrested at Florida and Fairmount avenues with help from witnesses, Fair said.Silva was not armed at the time, but a handgun was found inside a trashcan on Turnpike Road, according to the report.Silva previously served prison time for a 2015 case involving charges of criminal restraint and weapons offenses, state Department of Corrections records show.He was released from the Albert C. Wagner Youth Correctional Facility on Sept. 11, 2018, after serving nearly three years.Silva is now charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
