The Margate man accused of brutally beat his father inside the home they shared did not appear in court as scheduled Monday.
Robert Woods Jr., 45, was supposed to have a detention hearing Monday, after he allegedly attacked his father with a golf club.
Bobby Woods Sr., 70, was left bleeding in his bed last week. The bloody golf club allegedly used in the attack was outside the room.
Woods Jr. was arrested later that day. His bloody pants had been found downstairs, according to the affidavit.
He was not brought over from the Atlantic County Justice Facility on Monday morning due to his "mental status," Assistant Prosecutor Deirdre Laws told Judge Donna Taylor.
The state asked that the hearing be postponed to Thursday to prepare for the hearing.
Defense attorney Mark Roddy said he was ready to proceed, but the judge said she would not have proceeded without the defendant.
