Atlantic City started getting back to a new kind of normal Thursday, as casinos started to reopen their doors.
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City was the first at 6 a.m.
Tomkomedy's Michelle Tomko was on the scene, interviewing a couple from Philadelphia who waited to re-enter the casino they haven't been able to go to since March.
Inside, security is using facial scanning to take the temperatures before anyone is allowed entry.
The Topicana and Resorts both opened at 8 a.m.
“We have anxiously awaited this reopening and look forward to welcoming Atlantic City and the surrounding communities back to our hotel and casino,” Golden Nugget CEO Tilman Fertitta said, as the hotel, casino and pool reopened. “This is a step in the right direction to getting our employees back to work. We are following CDC, state and regulatory guidelines and taking all the prudent and essential measures to maintain a safe and clean environment for our guests and employees.”
Ocean Casino Resort had a special ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m.
With inside dining still not allowed,there are three food trucks and four outdoor smoking areas, they announced at a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m.
Caesars will reopen its three casinos — Caesars, Harrah's and Bally's — on Friday.
Borgata is the only casino to have opted not to reopen while indoor drinking and dining is still not an option.
