Two passengers in a car that fled a fatal shooting at a Pleasantville High School football game last year were released Monday, and could be cleared in the case.
Michael Mack, 28, and Vance Golden, 27, were in a car that was chased from police after the Nov. 15 shooting.
None of the four men in the car were charged in the shooting that killed 10-year-old Micah Tennant and wounded two others.
But they were arrested after the driver refused to stop for police and a gun was tossed from the car.
Last week, Tyrell Dorn, 28, admitted to having the gun and then tossing it from the moving car.
He faces seven years must do five under a plea agreement.
Then, on Monday, driver Shahid Dixon pleaded guilty to eluding for failing to stop for police, admitting he drove “about two miles” before finally pulling over.
Dixon, 28, faces three years for that. But, his attorney is hoping to get him back into Recovery Court.
Dixon was on the Atlantic County equivalent of drug court when he was arrested. He has been in jail for that violation since.
Defense attorney Jim Grimley told the judge he is trying to get that violation dropped, but that the Recovery Court prosecutor said she would not agree to it.
If Recovery Court Judge Mark Sandson does not let Dixon back into the program, he could face his original six year sentence do three years from that case. That would be served concurrent to the three-year plea in the eluding case.
With the two men admitting to their part, Assistant Prosecutor Edmund Mallqui-Burgos will suggest to his boss, First Assistant Prosecutor Cary Shill, that the charges against Mack and Golden be dropped, he told Judge Bernard DeLury on Monday.
That moved DeLury to release both men with oversight while the charges are still pending.
Dixon, who has not been charged in the case, allegedly called Wyatt on FaceTime to let him know the alleged target — Ibn Abdullah — was as the game.
