Absecon man released in vehicle burglary tries

  • News

An Absecon man with a recent string of burglary and trespassing charges was released from jail with condition Wednesday.
Eric Boukhediche, 32, was arrested Saturday morning, after a resident of Donegal Lane called police saying a man was walking through the neighborhood trying to enter several vehicles parked at different residences, according to the police report.
The caller remained on the phone with police until he lost sight of the suspect as he walked towards Irish Lane.
Police responded at about 2:30 a.m., and found Boukhediche on Irish Lane, the report states.
Boukhediche was walking away from the original scene when he was stopped by K-9 Officer Brent Lopez and his partner, Colt.
Boukhediche was taken into custody without incident.
Further investigation revealed that Boukhediche attempted to burglarize numerous vehicles in the area of Donegal and Irish lanes, Lt. Christopher McGinty said in a news release.
Boukhediche had two arrests in March, including burglary and theft charges March 16, four days after a prior offense, Assistant Prosecutor Aaron Witherspoon noted in court.
Records show Boukhediche also was arrested Dec. 31, for criminal trespassing.
"Sir, when you go out, you get in trouble," Judge John Rauh told Boukhediche.
"I'm not going out anymore," Boukhediche responded.
He told the judge that his job in sales is done from home.
Rauh did not put Boukhediche on an ankle monitor, but did give him a 6 p.m. curfew, allowing for him to leave the home for things such as grocery shopping, doctor's appointments and anything in reference to his case.
He was released to his mother's home in Absecon.
