Hamilton Township police are warning residents that a bear was sighted Monday morning near a condominium complex.
Dean Loveland Jr. was heading to work at about 6:30 a.m., when he spotted the bear on Lombard Street, he told BreakingAC.
"That's a big bear," the Egg Harbor City resident thought.
Loveland, a union carpenter, had seen bears before. But never in New Jersey.
"I was more concerned about the bear heading into the Timber Glenn development," he said.
He captured a photo of the bear walking down Lombard Street not far from Wrangleboro Road across from Consumer Square.
A woman inside the complex encountered the bear while walking her dog.
Maria Rios shared video taken after her daughter made it safely inside.
(WARNING: Language)
The bear is seen climbing over the fence leading out of Evergreen at Timber Glenn.
Hamilton Township police sent out a Nixle alert, which included a link to the NJ Fish and Wildlife website for information on bears.
"As a reminder, please DO NOT approach or feed the bear," police wrote.
Anyone who may see the bear is asked to call police.
