Driver charged after running over woman in Atlantic City

  • News

A woman was seriously injured after she was run over by an Atlantic City woman now charged with driving while intoxicated.
Ashley Barksdale struck a parked car and then ran over the victim, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Police and firefighters arrived in the 800 block of New Hampshire Avenue just before 11 p.m. Sunday, to find a large crowd and a woman pinned under a Honda Accord, Fair said.
The crash happened near the seawall at Gardner's Basin.
The victim, who was not identified, was freed by firefighters from Ladder 1 and Engine 7 under the command of Battalion Chief Elwood Faunce, according to the report.
She was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.
Barksdale, 34, went on Facebook Live at about 2:45 Monday morning, asking someone to come get her from the holding cell.
"Anybody with a driver's license," she says. "Free Ash."
About an hour before the incident, Barksdale posted another Facebook Live as she drove with music playing.
"It's Club Stanley," she yells. "It's lit for Father's Day at Club Stanley."
