An Egg Harbor City man was under the influence and passing vehicles on the shoulder of Route 30, when he crashed in Absecon, police said.
Vishal Patel, 31, was seen speeding before the crash at about 4:22 p.m. Monday, according to the report.
Police responded to the westbound side near the Travelodge Hotel to find one vehicle rolled over in the marsh with the driver hurt inside.
Patel was in the other vehicle and arrested. He was charged with assault by auto, DWI, reckless driving and racing, along with several other motor vehicle violations.
He was not jailed on the charges.
The area of the White Horse Pike westbound was closed for about two hours while the scene was investigated.
