A Little Egg Harbor Township man was drunk when he fled a crash that injured two people in Atlantic City, police said.Police were called to Route 30 and Grammercy Avenue just before 10 p.m. Monday.Officer Eric Knuttel arrived to find a heavily damaged vehicle with two people trapped inside, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.Atlantic City firefighters worked to extricate the trapped occupants. Both occupants, who were taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus with serious injuries.Witnesses told police that the vehicle that caused the crash had fled on Route 30 with major front-end damage.Absecon Police Officer Steven Hance saw the Chevrolet SUV, and stopped it along with Atlantic City Police Sgt. John Waddell and Officer Troy Grams., according to the report. The driver, Michael Olenhaus, was initially uncooperative with the officers, Fair said. After speaking with Olenhaus, he was taken into custody without incident.
Olenhaus, 35, is charged with assault by auto, DWI and other related motor vehicle summonses.He was released on a summons.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5744.
